This opportunity given by Dr Kavitha here to awaken people to enter and explore into Shakti within us, is itself a play of Shakti. So we are thankful to her as she calls people to expand their consciousness during this sacred period. Unfortunately now a days people have forgotten the purpose of observing this festival and waste hundreds of millions of rupees in making gigantic decorations in the name what we call ‘Medhas’ at hundreds and thousands of different areas in Kolkata city and in other cities as well. People waste this pious time with alcohols, merrymaking and amusements, at many places with violence particularly on the last day of immersing these statues in the river, for which we have been seeing for the last two years the interference of High court and supreme court in fixing this date of immersion in Kolkata to pacify the conflicts between the two religions of Hindus and Muslims. The pious trend has now taken the shape of nasty politics. Attempts like this what Dr Kavitha has taken here can restore our original purpose of observing this important festival of India.
