Oh my goodness, this is an absolutely stunning piece. I will read this every morning and every evening for many days until I can internalize this beautiful description of what it means to be Feminine. I am learning day by day to have faith and know that the universe is always working on my best behalf. It is one day at a time, being in the present moment helps me to sustain this faith.

Thank you for these beautiful words.

Thank you, dear Barb! That has been my practice too – to know that all is well at all times. It’s hard, isn’t it? Takes a while to get used to the sense of being ok!

    Thanks so much for reading.

      Hi Megha,
How wonderful! It’s especially hard for women in medicine, isn’t it? We are simply not taught to embrace our femininity. Thank goodness for doctors like you!
      With love!

    Very interesting article, thank you.

I am wondering why you linked the concept of effort to the masculine and the concept of grace to the feminine? Am a less feminine when I put effort into something, let’s say an exam or the preparation for the ultimate dinner party? I love effort as much as grace in my life, and to me, none of the two is less feminine than the other. I feel it creates a conflict in me when putting effort into something is equated with “cultivating my masculine side”.

      Hi Agnes,
You’re right – effort isn’t really masculine and grace isn’t really feminine. Ultimately, these are all made up concepts. And whether we are male or female, a balance between the two is desirable. And we have both sides in us, whether we are male, female, both or neither. The point of this post was to highlight the subtle difference between putting in effort and allowing for grace to flow through, and the delicate dance between the two. When we become excessively focused on effort alone, we close off to grace and lose the ability to surrender to its sweet flow. The ideal situation would be to put in the effort and let go of expectations for specific outcomes. <3
